industrial automation
The Industrial Automation Technology Center began to be structured in 1993 with the creation of the Laboratories Section in the Department of Productive Processes. Initially, automation equipment based on pneumatic principles was acquired to meet the requirements of the Industrial Processes subject, as well as machine tools for teaching instruction in basic metalworking processes in the Process Workshop subject. Subsequently, the computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD / CAM) area was developed, which was duly integrated with the computerized numerical control machine tools.

In 1998, once the latest machines were acquired that allowed to enter into issues of computerized numerical control, its future projection began to be established to form a manufacturing laboratory integrated by computer, with the incorporation of automation and robotics; It was then that the creation of a Technology Center was considered, in response to the actions proposed in the Work Program of the Faculty of Engineering 1999-2011, corresponding to the consolidation of the research and services functions of the Departments and Institutes of the faculty.
