Network architect

Network architect

ARCNET, short for Attached Resource Computer NETwork, was a local area network architecture that uses the token access technique, such as Token Ring. It was developed by Datapoint Corporation, in 1977. Also known as CamelCased, ARCnet, ARCANET. The physical topology is star-shaped, while the logical topology is ring-shaped, using coaxial cable and passive (up to four connections) or active hubs.

SRA Architecture
The SRA describes a comprehensive structure that provides all modes of data communication and on the basis of which new data communication networks can be planned and implemented.

Digital Network Architecture (DRA)
This is a distributed network architecture from Digital Equipment Corporation. It is called DECnet and it has five layers. The physical layer, data link control, transport and network services correspond. The fifth layer, the application layer, is a mixture of the presentation and application layers of the OSI model. DECnet does not have a separate session layer.

SNA architecture
It consists of the following levels: • Physical Link Control Level. • Data Link Level. • Route Control Level. • Transmission Control Level. • Level of Data Flow Control. • Presentation Service Level. • Level of Transaction Services.

Ethernet
Developed by the XERTOX company and adopted by DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation), and Intel, Ethernet was one of the first low-level standards. Ethernet is geared for office automation, distributed data processing, and terminal access that require an inexpensive connection to a local communication medium transporting traffic at high speeds. In an ethernet network each element of the system has a unique 48-bit address, and the information is transmitted serially in groups of bits called frames. The frames include the data to be sent, the address of the station that should receive it and the address of the station that transmits it.
